about geolocation
This site uses geolocation services to show you information that's relevant to your location. At this time, only the Nearby Stops page uses your location.
Geolocation is draft and experimental technology: most browsers currently do not support it. However, you can always enter your location manually to achieve the same result.
how it works
If your web browser supports it, your location is determined by triangulation based on wireless access points near you, using data collected by a third party provider.
This does not always work: wireless networks in your area may not have been mapped, or you might not have a wireless adapter in your computer. In these situations, you can fall back to specifying your location manually.
supported browsers
This functionality is dependent on the Draft W3C Geolocation API Specification so web browser support is very limited.
Firefox 3.5 has geolocation functionality built-in. If you use Firefox 3.5, you're all set!
Firefox 3.0 users can install the Mozilla Geode addon to enable geolocation functionality.
privacy
Browsers that implement the Geolocation API will ask you for permission if a website requests your location, and how accurately you wish to provide your location.
For the purposes of this website, provide your 'exact location' for best results.
TransitDB does not record your location.
